The Prince of Persia is back

Javad Nekounam feels happy, he is a footballer again, after a season of suffering with a serious knee injury, La Liga is about to begin and he is ready to remind us why he became one of the fans´ favourite players. Neko has given an interview to Diario de Navarra and Blogsasuna World shares its highlights with all the Iransuna fans.

Against Hull City, Javad played 90 minutes for Osasuna for the first time in more than a year. “I played four matches with the national team without problems, with no pain. Now I´m back to the team and I´m very happy because i don´t have any problems”, said the mifielder about his knee injury. About his last season, Neko wished to thank the rojillo fans, Cuco Ziganda and the club for all their support during his absence: “They helped me a lot, I´ll never forget that amability they gave to me. That´s gonna remain forever”.

In these first two matches for Javad, we´ve seen him in charge of set pieces, sharing this responsibility with the left-footed french player Ludovic Delporte. The fans have not seen this Neko skill yet: “At the national team, Mahdavikia and i share set pieces kicking. I throw the long distance ones and i don´t do bad -he laughs-, Cuco has seen that I´m good at this and I´ll be throwing them this season”.

The journalist asked Neko for his future, will he be playing for Osasuna for a long time? “I´ll only leave the club if i have a very juicy offer or if I´m fired”, he answered. “I´m a player that doesn´t like to change my team. Here i have an absolut peace. I like the supporters, the club, the team; the coach is very kind and very good”.

Javad Nekounam faces this new season, full of new challenges to come, with renewed hope. He wants to give back to the fans all the support and love he received from them and make everyone forget past year´s injury. He´ll have to fight for a place in the midfield with Puñal, Font, Sunny and the last one to get on board, Krisztian Vadocz, who has signed this morning. It´ll be a excellent fight, won´t it? The Prince of Persia is back.
