September 8, 2008 por jsnagore
This new season has begun amazingly for Javad Nekounam. He scored last sunday for Osasuna against Villarreal and he repeated on saturday against Saudi Arabia in the opening game of the qualifiers for World Cup 2010.
The Iransuna connection worked once again, this time not in Pamplona but in Riyadh. A ball from a corner kick was touched by Masoud Shojaei and Javad hit the cross staight into the goal with a strong header. It was the drawing goal. Iran begun their way to the World Cup with a nice result against one of the most important rivals of the group.
CAPE VERDE, DEFEATED BY CAMEROON
Another Osasuna player, Dady, didn´t have the same luck and his national team, Cape Verde, could not manage to win against Cameroon, probably Africa´s most powerful team. Former red player Pierre Webó also played the first half, but none of them scored. The final result in Praia was 1-2 and Dady finally played the whole match.
By now, and after five matches played, Cape Verde stands in the second place of the group behind Cameroon. The third and fourth place are por Tanzania and Mauricio.
PLASIL AND VADOCZ, ON WEDNESDAY
Plasil and Vadocz will still have to wait for coming back to Pamplona. The Cech Republic team will start their qualification series next wednesday against Northern Ireland and Hungary will continue theirs against Sweden after drawing their first match against Denmark, with the Osasuna midfielder Vadocz playing the whole match.
