Searching for solutions

October 8, 2008 por jsnagore

After the first six matches, we can now assure that the beggining of this season is not going well for Osasuna. With only four points out of 18,  the team is in the 16th position of La Liga. Two goals scored and no victories are far away of being good numbers.

Spectators at Reyno de Navarra stadium were annoyed after the goal of Racing de Santander last sunday and some of them asked for a dimision of the manager, Cuco Ziganda. Patience is running out for many Osasuna fans and what it was supposed to be a very good year is turning slowly to another season of suffering, but is still soon to came to a conclusion and many changes can be done to get a solution.

One of the most important players, maybe the most, Javad Nekounam, didn´t play last two matches at his usual level and the team seemed affected. Also strikers Kike Sola, Javier Portillo and Dady seem to be completely out of shape because they are, by now, unable to take the opportunities they´re getting.

We know this years we have many new Osasuna supporters from around the World -specially from Iran, of course- and we want to know this week their opinions about the team. Do you have any ideas to improve it´s peformances? According to what you´ve seen on TV, which player do you think should play more minutes? Who deserves an oportunity? Who you think is the best or the worst by now?

We´re interested in your opinion and we´ll publicate an article in both Spanish and English during the next days with the conclusions of this survey. Thank you for participating.

The forwards of Osasuna needs better guidelines since they obviously can’t think for themself as quickly as one needs to be in this level of football.

In every Osasuna highlights, almost every chance goes to the midfielders! The strikers doesn’t FEEL, LOOK or ACT like a threat, they don’t RUN very good off the ball, how many shots on target to they make in each game?, for example look at minute 1.15 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBwsyduy13A&feature=related .

I just believe Osasuna has some striker problems, the coach is very little at fault as well, but mostly the strikers doesn’t seem to be that good. The team deserved to win many matches, but were also VERY VERY unlucky. With 10 men vs Racing, Osasuna killed them the whole game.. but that could have been the opponents weak coach.

The most impressive player so far is Masoud. Nekounam last game, I just felt that he had disappear. I believe it is JuanFran which has impressed me a bit lately. The whole team is good, except for the strikers.. worst form ever.

I believe Osasuna has been very unlucky so far and they did not deserve to loose the points especially against santander and mallorca when they dominated their opponents.

I agree with you, Neko’s mediocre form in the last matches has affected the tempo and the rhythm of the team. one should not forget the injury of Ezquerro either.

Osasuna’s main weakness is the absence of a natural goalscorer. the team had a lot os scoring opportunities, but didn’t manage to capitalize. I think especially Masoud has to work on his finishing, he creates a lot of good opportunity with his technical abilities but fail to finish his good job.

I hope Osasuna find their top form again and Cuco will remain at the helm of the team.

    Gora Osasuna.
